Carnivore To Vegan?
I get asked by a lot of people why I went vegan and there are so many
reasons! It's not just about the cruelty to animals! It also comes with amazing health benefits if eating a well-balanced vegan diet. So here we go!
Top Reasons Why I Went Vegan:
1) Yes, of course because of the cruelty to animals. Have you seen how the animals are handled and killed to provide food? Not to mention that not all "free range" are solely "free range". You need to do your research. A "free range" chicken according to the USDA is one that is allowed access to the outside. That is the only requirement. That still means that they can cut off their beaks to prevent them from pecking each other to death and they can still pack the chickens in like sardines. Not to mention, access to the outside could just mean a concrete slab. Did you know that cows are constantly impregnated to continually produce milk? I could go on and on about the cruelty that all animals face but it's a pretty heated subject for me and I need to share it like a grain of salt.
2) What they feed the animals today is revolting. Cows were starting to be fed animal by-products (ground up meat, bones, and animal parts) to make them bulk up faster. This is how the whole "Mad Cow Disease" epidemic started. Cows are meant to eat grass, not meat. Oh, and all the antibiotics, and hormones. What we eat does have an effect on us and I strongly believe that. Even though you can purchase antibiotic free milk, it doesn't mean that it's cruelty free.
3) Before going vegan I have thought about ordering meat directly from a farmer that is free of antibiotics and hormones but the thought of having any animal killed for me to eat is just heartbreaking. You see, the grocery stores take all of the pain out of it because you never meet the animals, and you never feel guilty that an animal was picked specially for your eating pleasure (although, they were picked out for everyone's eating pleasure).
4) HEALTH, HEALTH, HEALTH!!!!! A Standard American Diet (a diet consisting of veggies, fruits, meat, and animal products) has been shown to be the number 1 cause of heart disease and is also known to cause certain types of cancers. NEWS FLASH...heart disease and cancer are the top diseases that run on both sides of my family. If there is anything that I can do to prevent any of these diseases, then I want to because I do have a choice! My Mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 40 and is a survivor! My Father was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 59. He is still in the battle but is doing great. I learned through my research that breast and prostate cancer were the top 2 cancers that resulted from consuming a Standard American Diet.
5) Once I went vegan I was amazed at how good I felt! I had increased energy and I just overall felt great! My acne started to clear up, my tummy stopped being so upset, and my skin started glowing! I actually looked healthier and people even noticed it!
I found all this information by doing a little research but please remember that these are my top reasons that I went vegan and I do believe the research that I came across to be true. The information can be found out there but you have to decide what to believe and what you want to do with it.
